The Town of Truckee has a new special events policy that requires event organizers to submit a waste reduction plan as part of their application.
Every special event must provide two-stream waste stations with garbage and recycling. Events with over 2,000 attendees a day that serve food must also provide a composting bin at each waste station.
Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal provides waste stations for all events. Coordinate delivery and removal of waste stations by calling TTSD at (530) 583-7800.
Large events serving food must also provide waste monitors at each three-stream waste station. Waste monitors help attendees sort their waste correctly to prevent contamination. Reach out to the Recycling Division at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more.
